And at PCI, that includes a unique component – a concluding 12-day, hands-on Boot Camp at one of the largest wind farms in the U.S. in Sweetwater, Texas.

What you’ll learn:
In PCI’s Wind Turbine Technician training program, you’ll learn to operate and maintain the components that keep a wind turbine functioning – including electrical, communication, hydraulic and computer systems. PCI’s curriculum for wind turbine school in Kansas & Missouri emphasizes safety principles of working in the wind energy industry. Plus, you will gain an understanding of current electromechanical and alternative energy concepts to be successful in this growing field. In our Flex education program, much of your wind energy education will be online – with just 2 days a week spent in on the PCI campus!

Conclude your program at Boot Camp!
Your program concludes with a 12-day Boot Camp at one of the largest wind farms in the U.S. in Sweetwater, Texas, where you will apply the theories learned to intense, hands-on instruction on turbines. You’ll receive instruction from nationally recognized instructors from PCI’s partner, Texas State Technical College, who are industry leaders in wind education.

Part of your Boot Camp experience will be familiarization with a demonstration turbine prototype – a full-scale, 60-cycle, 2 megawatt turbine featuring a drive train combination of a torque converter and a synchronous generator. This model is an industry first and a highlight of PCI’s wind energy training program in Kansas & Missouri – the only online program with a Boot Camp in the Midwest.
