Insight From PCI Graduates

Happy days are here again. At the same time a little sad I have finished boot camp, passed all those requirements, and cleared all the hurdles and fears. I look forward to a new career and being home where my wife and family wait along with that cold nasty weather.
The sad part is saying goodbye to some very good friends and relationships that I have developed while I have been down here. I have been pretty lucky in being able to obtain this education and in the process meeting some good people. I gained a lot from this journey not only in education but in conquering those fears that held me back, and developing the confidence I needed to grow.
This has been tough from the very beginning … sometimes not sure if I was able to carry on. Sometimes I had to dig deep but now I can say it’s been worth it just in character growth and developing positive personality traits that will carry me a long way in life. I learned that if there is something you want, you can obtain that goal if you continue to push yourself towards it. Yes, those certifications are important but to make oneself a better human being in the process – that’s a bonus.
Tonight I set my eyes towards home and see a future, a bright one, for me and my family. I feel good about myself and those accomplishments – but do not get me wrong. It’s not easy to do and it does not come without some personal sacrifice and a structure of support.
Goals are only obtained by stepping outside of one’s comfort zone. And believe me, I truly was outside of mine. But guess what? That zone becomes comfortable as you push forward believing in yourself, and now it’s time to move into the next zone. As they say, anything worth a damn does not come easy but I will add to that, it will and that’s your cue to step outside the box and challenge yourself once again. I will end this journal with a quote I believe is from Gandhi: ‘Live as if you were to die tomorrow but learn as if you were to live forever.
It’s time to pack and set my eyes on home and the next phase in the process.
