Are you looking for a hands-on career where you work outside, enjoying the seasons, while combining the challenge of problem solving with technical skills? Then train for an exciting career in the high-demand wind energy field. And at PCI, that includes a unique component – a concluding hands-on Boot Camp experience that was developed with TSTC. At the end of the program, students travel to Sweetwater, Texas, where they will train with TSTC instructors at Roscoe Wind Farm, which is located nearby.

Roscoe Wind Farm is one of the world's largest wind farms, currently powering 250,000 Texan homes, saving approximately 375,000 tons of greenhouse emissions per year. Their landscape includes 627 wind turbines and spans three counties over nearly 30,000 acres.

What you'll learn:
In PCI's Wind Turbine Technician training program, you'll learn to operate and maintain the components that keep a wind turbine functioning – including electrical, hydraulic and computer systems. PCI's curriculum for wind turbine school in Kansas City and Lawrence emphasizes safety principles of working in the wind energy industry. Plus, you will gain an understanding of current electromechanical and alternative energy concepts to be successful in this growing field. In our Flex education program, much of your wind energy education will be online, combined with on-campus classes.

Conclude your program at Boot Camp!
Your program concludes with a Boot Camp taught by instructors at Texas State Technical College, located in Sweetwater, Texas. You will apply your learning in hands-on experiences at Roscoe Wind Farm, located about three miles from Texas State Technical College.

Part of your classroom experience will be familiarization with a demonstration turbine prototype – a full-scale, 60-cycle, 2 megawatt turbine featuring a drive train combination of a torque converter and a synchronous generator. This model is an industry first and a highlight of PCI's wind energy training program in Kansas City and Lawrence – the only hybrid program with a Boot Camp in the Midwest.
