A Response to the U.S. Secretary of Education's National Call to Action to Postsecondary Institutions

From our home in Kansas City, Missouri, Pinnacle Career Institute (PCI) serves students from communities across the United States who share a common purpose: building better futures through career education.

For more than 70 years, PCI has believed in the power of career focused education to create opportunity. Our students bring different experiences, perspectives, circumstances, and life stories to their education, but they arrive with something important in common. They want to gain practical skills, pursue meaningful work, and create greater opportunities for themselves and their families.

In response to the U.S. Secretary of Education's National Call to Action to University Presidents and Governing Boards, Pinnacle Career Institute is proud to reaffirm the principles that have long guided our institution.

We believe public confidence in higher education is strengthened through transparency, accountability, academic rigor, responsible stewardship, and meaningful outcomes for students.

Our commitment is straightforward. Students should understand the education they are choosing, what it will cost, what will be expected of them academically, and how their education is designed to prepare them for employment.

Transparent and Fair Admissions

PCI is committed to providing prospective students with clear and accurate information about admissions requirements and program expectations before enrollment.

Our admissions standards and institutional policies are designed to ensure applicants are treated consistently and that students enter programs for which they have a reasonable opportunity to succeed.

We believe transparency begins before a student enrolls and should continue throughout the student's educational experience. Students deserve the information necessary to make informed decisions about their education and their future.

PCI is committed to transparency regarding tuition and fees, financial aid, program length, completion, employment outcomes, and other information students need to make informed educational decisions.

We also believe institutional accountability extends far beyond enrollment. Our responsibility is to provide the education, academic support, student services, and career services necessary to help students progress from enrollment to graduation and ultimately toward employment in their chosen field.

Technology and artificial intelligence are rapidly changing both education and the workplace.

Artificial intelligence can be a valuable educational and professional tool when used responsibly. It cannot replace the ability of a graduate to think critically, solve problems, communicate effectively, demonstrate technical competency, and perform the essential functions expected within their profession.

Academic integrity, meaningful assessment, and educational rigor remain essential to ensuring PCI graduates are prepared to perform in the workplace.

Institutional Integrity and Responsible Stewardship

PCI is committed to operating with integrity and in accordance with applicable federal, state, accrediting, and institutional requirements.

As a career focused institution rather than a research university, certain issues addressed in the Secretary's Call to Action regarding university sponsored research do not directly reflect PCI's institutional model. The larger principles of institutional integrity, responsible stewardship, accountability, and public trust, however, apply to every institution of higher education.

PCI is committed to responsible governance, protection of student information, appropriate oversight of institutional resources and partnerships, regulatory compliance, and transparency in the operation of our educational programs.

The trust placed in an institution by its students, graduates, employers, regulators, accreditors, and the public must be earned every day.

Preparing America's Skilled Workforce
